The Açailândia – Alto Alegre do Pindaré – Alcântara railroad will concentrate general cargo, grains and liquid bulk to São Luís. It will allow the exponential growth in rail freight transport to Itaqui. The cargo from the current 11 Mt, of the 31 Mt shipped in 2021, will be able to expand to 50 Mt of the 60 Mtpa estimated to be shipped in 2027. It will simultaneously make possible the transportation of about 140 Mtpa of iron ore and grains for the TPA of the extra demand foreseen for 2030.
