The Maranhão Railway (EF-317) will be one of the main modes used to transport the production of grains and ores.

In December 2021, was signed the authorization contract no. 6, for the EF-317 railroad of approximately 520 km that will connect the TPA to Açailândia- MA, allowing access to grain cargo from the Center-West regions via the North-South Railway (FNS).

This way, the agribusiness demands and other cargoes coming from the Center-West via FICO/FNS will be able to go directly to TPA without generating bottlenecks in the EFC.

This new branch line will have the advantage of reducing the distance between TPA and the other ports in São Luis by approximately 50 km, while minimizing the socio-environmental impact on the “Baixada Maranhense”.
