Europe’s Largest Training Yard: Maschen Marshalling Yard
As part of our visit to InnoTrans, we were in the largest training yard in Europe, Maschen Marshalling Yard. Its size is 280 hectares, with a total length of 7,000 meters and a maximum width of 700 meters.
Its capacity to train 100 trains a day, making use of all the automation implemented, is truly impressive. Around 150 trains operated by DB Schenker Rail arrive and depart from the yard on a typical weekday.
