Regional development: The “Baixada’s” turn
The great power of the GPM system made up of the Alcântara Port Terminal and the EF-317 is that it is capable of transforming one of the poorest regions in the state of Maranhão into one of the most dynamic, capable of generating 100,000 jobs and increasing the state’s GDP by 20%.
An operational union between Itaqui and the GPM system will bring enormous benefits to Maranhão, as it will remove all the operational limitations of the two ports, with the possibility of forming the largest Brazilian port complex with many advantages for our state.
